Shelby Cooper Memorial Fund

The Shelby Cooper Memorial Fund was created to honor the life and legacy of Shelby Cooper—a vibrant, caring, and spirited young woman whose time at Lucas High School was tragically cut short after a car accident during her junior year. Though her life ended far too soon, her impact continues to grow through the work of this fund started by Shelby's parents, Tim and Tammy Cooper. 

For the past nineteen years, the Shelby Cooper Memorial Fund has been dedicated to supporting Richland County and the community that Shelby loved so deeply. What began as a way to remember one extraordinary student has become a tradition of generosity that touches countless lives each year.

Through an annual golf outing at Pleasant Hill Golf Course in Lucas, Ohio, the fund raises money to provide scholarships for Lucas High School students and to support local organizations that reflect Shelby’s values of kindness, service, and connection. Over the years, donations have benefited Lifeline of Ohio, Richland County Jr. Fair, Richland County 4-H, the Lucas Community Center, Lucas Schools and Athletic Department,  Habitat for Humanity of Richland County, The Ohio Bird Sanctuary, and various other organizations that help our community thrive.

Shelby was an organ donor, donating two kidneys, her liver, and her pancreas. Her choice to give life to others continues to inspire the fund’s connection to Lifeline of Ohio. Her story reminds us that even in loss, there can be hope, healing, and renewal. Each donation made to the Shelby Cooper Memorial Fund helps carry her light forward—supporting students, strengthening the community, and honoring the selfless spirit that defined Shelby’s life.
