This year we are adding Civil War Living History Days at South Park on Saturday, June 8, 2024, and Sunday, June 9, 2024. We want to make this a community and family friendly event that will be free and open to the public. We are asking you to consider a donation to our organization so that we can provide musicians/entertainment for this event. In addition, our buildings will be open with period re-enactors providing historical talks with demonstrations and activities throughout the day. Food Trucks will be on site for the public to purchase food.

Valerie Hamil of Galena, Ohio is our coordinator for this event. Valerie is also a 20-year civil war re-enactor who portrays The Civil War Herb Lady of Ohio along with Major Pauline Cushman, Spy of the Cumberland. We are working with Valerie to bring several interesting re-enactors to the event to draw in the public like Civil War Author Dan Masters, a wet plate collodion photographer with a traveling tintype studio to name a few.

Visitors can meet authentically clad and equipped military and civilian reenactors who will discuss the everyday lives of Civil War soldiers and the roles civilians played in supporting them.

Visitors will feel the thunder of artillery, witness firsthand Civil War medicine, talks from civilians in 1860's and take a stroll through the military camps.
