Celebrating Build #53 and Funding Critical Repairs for 2026

This November, we are handing the keys to Build #53 to the Powell family—an incredible family and housing transformation captured beautifully by our friends at New Day Creative in the video above. As the front door opened and light filled the room, you could feel the weight of what that home meant: stability, independence, and the promise of a better future. Moments like these are at the heart of Habitat’s mission.

But behind this incredible celebration, another reality persists.

While we are building new homes for families beginning their next chapter, many of our current Habitat homeowners—and dozens of families in our community—are struggling to stay safe in the homes they already have. During the cold-weather months, something as small as a failing furnace or a leaking roof can quickly become dangerous. For some, it means choosing between heat or groceries. For others, especially seniors and veterans, it means facing winter in conditions that no one should have to endure.

This is why our Critical Repair Program exists. And this year, we need your support more than ever.

Two Pillars, One Mission

Our Construction Program continues to build the next generation of Habitat homes. But running parallel to that work is a growing need for urgent repairs—repairs that keep families warm, dry, and safe in their existing homes.

These repairs aren’t cosmetic. They are both critical and life-preserving.

  • A furnace repair for a senior living alone.
  • A new handrail for a veteran recovering from surgery.
  • A roof patch that prevents a family from losing everything to water damage.
  • A bathroom modification that allows a disabled homeowner to remain independent.

These are the stories we hear every day. Unfortunately, the needs are growing and the organizations with both the funds and ability to intervene are few—but we are able and these are the stories we want to change.

To do that, we must fully fund this pillar of our work... and we need you!

Your Impact This Giving Season

This year, our Giving Tuesday efforts are focused on ensuring we can fully fund our Critical Repair Program for the entire 2026 repair season. When you give, you are not simply responding to a moment—you are investing in a year’s worth of safety, dignity, and stability for families who cannot wait.

Your support strengthens both sides of Habitat’s mission:

  • Critical Repairs: Keeping long-time homeowners safe and allowing them to remain in the homes they love.
  • New Home Construction: Building new beginnings for families who need a foundation for the future.

Together, these two pillars create the kind of community where families can stand strong—whether they need a brand-new home or simply the ability to stay safely in the one they have.

A Season of Hope, Built Together

As we celebrate the joy and transformation of Build #53, we are asking our community to stand with the families who need immediate help this winter. Your gift ensures that no senior has to sleep in a freezing home, no family has to live with unsafe wiring or collapsing steps, and no veteran has to navigate a home that puts their safety at risk.

Your contribution is more than a donation. It is a safeguard. It is restoration. It is hope.

Thank you for joining us in building and repairing homes, community, and the futures of families who need us now.

Together, we can make 2026 a year where more families remain safe, warm, and independent at home. Together, we can continue to build hope.
