Forgotten Felines of Richland County Ohio benefits our community by reducing the feral cat population in our neighborhoods.  Our efforts support a humane treatment of homeless cats.

As of the end of November 2024, Forgotten Felines has trapped, spayed, and neutered over 400 feral and community cats in the Mansfield area, and provided necessary medications.  The coming cold winter months reduce the number of surgeries since a healthy recovery in the outdoors requires a warmer climate.

When Forgotten Felines traps a feral cat, we prevent dozens of other kittens from being born on the streets.   One unsterilized cat can produce an average of 19 cats in five years.   Forgotten Felines prevents many kittens from being born homeless in the Mansfield and Richland County.

We also provide outdoor shelter for homeless cats, and we provide medical treatment, as needed, to feral cats in our area.

Our goal for 2025 is to trap, spay, and neuter as many feral cats as our budget will allow.  In the past six years, the work of our non-profit has greatly reduced the feral cat population in the Mansfield area and we hope, with your help, to expand our efforts to keep the feral cat population under control in Richland County.

Forgotten Felines provides:

  • A humane approach to addressing community cat populations in Richland County. Trap, Neuter, Return improves the lives of cats, addresses community concerns, reduces complaints about cats, and stops the breeding cycle. TNR is a proven humane approach to reduce the number of homeless, unsocialized cats and return them to their colonies or to barn homes.
  • Rabies vaccine and treatment for fleas at the time of neutering, and, if needed, administer antibiotics.
  • Cat shelters in large plastic storage containers that are adapted to house the kitties over the winter. They are insulated with Styrofoam and packed with straw for cold weather protection.

Our small non-profit was founded by the late Anne Wendling, and Carla Waleri is continuing Anne's mission.  We do not maintain an office or have any paid staff. Our work is supported by donations and grant funds.  Please join this effort by donating and/or volunteering.  Carla is at wcarla899@gmail.com .
