Altrusa of Mansfield actively supports the community with hands-on volunteer service projects and monetary donations. THANK YOU for your generous support of our efforts. Through your generosity, Altrusa has impacted thousands of lives in a positive way!

First Read to SucceedAltrusa members read and provide a new book to each first grade student in all Richland County public schools. Over 1100 books/month for 7 months.

Tools for Schools: Altrusa members fill teacher requests for school supplies for students in need throughout Richland County.  "Tools" such as crayons, pencils, markers, glue sticks, and erasers help to support learning.  Over 122,000 supplies/year are donated.

Little Free Libraries: Altrusa purchases or collects books for children and adults to stock our two Little Free Library locations, one beside First United Methodist Church downtown and the other at Third Street Family Health Services.  The libraries are filled with over 500 books/year.

Purple Star Program:  Altrusa donated books to support military-connected students in schools offering a Purple Star Program in Richland County.

Big Red Bookshelf: Altrusa members sort, count, and sticker books for United Way distribution sites around Richland County.

Coats for Kids: Altrusa collaborates with the Optimist Club and Ashley Furniture in collecting new or gently used coats and winter accessories which are donated to community members in need.

Buckeye Imagination Museum: Altrusa purchased the museum's community bulletin board and also co-sponsored the Imagination District Storybook Walk.

Dewald Center: Altrusa regularly donates new books to the children’s library. A reading bench honoring the life of Altrusan, Randy Moritz is located at the center.

Domestic Violence Shelter: Altrusa members collect personal hygiene items and have helped with the purchase of bed linens.

Scholarships: Altrusa provides a yearly scholarship to a graduating student from Mansfield Senior High School in memory of Marilou Schwan, a charter member of Mansfield Altrusa.  In addition, Madison and Mansfield Adult Education programs receive financial support to help pay for GED testing and transportation needs of their students.

The New Store: Altrusa members regularly volunteer to help children select clothing at scheduled dressing days throughout the year.

MindSprouts Creative Writing Program: Altrusa supports this program for students K-12 at the Renaissance Theatre.
